The Listowel Food Fair is delighted to announce Garvey's Super Valu, Listowel as its official Partner for 2017
“We have a few surprise special guests on opening night and we are thrilled to announce today that one of the is the 2017 Rose of Tralee Jennifer Byrne!”

JENNIFER (24), a junior doctor from Clonderrig, Co Offaly is the 2017 Rose of Tralee and the first from the Faithful County to take the title in the Festival’s long history.

RTÉ’s Dáithí Ó Sé announced the result in front of nearly one million television viewers and an audience of 2000 people on Tuesday 22nd August in the Festival Dome in Tralee.

Jennifer went to primary school in her local village, Ballinahown, and then went to secondary school in Our Lady’s Bower in Athlone.  She studied Medicine at NUI Galway and is currently working as a junior doctor in the Western GP Scheme and the Accident and Emergency Department of University College Hospital Galway.

A sports enthusiast, Jennifer has played soccer and Gaelic football from a very early age, and has represented Ireland in soccer at U17 and U19 level and in the World University Games.

Throughout the coming year, Jennifer will represent the Rose of Tralee International Festival at numerous corporate and charity events around the globe. She will visit a number of Rose of Tralee Centres at home and abroad to encourage women to enter selections in 2018. Jennifer will act as the brand ambassador for the Rose of Tralee International Festival’s lead sponsor Tipperary Crystal as well as other major sponsors including Kerry County Council and The Rose Hotel.

As part of the Listowel Food Fair and in conjunction with Kerry Recreation & Sports Partnership join Derval for a stretching session and also learn about sports nutrition.  Appropriate attire required.  Early booking is advisable as places are limited.

Opening Night


The 2017 Rose of Tralee, Jennifer Byrne, will formally open proceedings, followed by Listowel’s own local Flogas Ambassador and Sunday AM regular, Lizzy Lyons, from Lizzy’s Little Kitchen on the Flogas demo stage, Lizzy will showcase her talents while hosting the evening. Her special guests are Kerry Team Nutritionist and fellow Listowel native Kevin Beasley who will talk nutrition and all round well being while also joining her will be  TV3 presenter and actor, Simon Delaney, the culinary duo will prepare dishes from Simon’s recently published cookbook, “Simply Simon’s: The Diner Cookbook” for VIP chef’s table guests, 2017 Rose of Tralee, Jennifer Byrne, and Kerry team nutritionist, Kevin Beasley.  The proceeds from this year’s opening night raffle will go to nominated charity, Nano Nagle.
